Security Anyone ?

Breaking News ...        1/6/17

Outrageous Fundamental Security Failure - Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood Airport. 6 Dead 8 Wounded !
I knew that certain eligible/cleared people were allowed to transport Guns via Checked Baggage or Cargo. I had no idea that transporting Ammunition was also permitted.

Is this a Safe Practice ? Is this how Homeland Security/TSA work to protect its' Customers, the American Public ? Isn't it a very basic and simple idea that if someone is permitted to transport a Firearm, that individual should not be allowed to transport Ammo along with a Deadly Weapon ?
It appears to me a stunningly simple notion that other than perhaps presently engaged Law Enforcement-Types, should have to make other arrangements for transporting Ammo via Commercial Airliners.
