Buffalo, Conklin, Binghamton 5/16/22

 Pardon my absence; I've been distracted ...

I haven't been here on the blog lately but, Buffalo has moved me to words:

I live in Binghamton, NY. Approximately 230 Miles North and West of here is the City of Buffalo, where 10 people were shot and killed 3 more were injured at a Grocery Store.

Approximately 5 Miles East of here is Conklin, NY, where the 18-Year-Old Killer grew up and lived. 

Approximately 3 Blocks away from my home is the local Emergency Mental Health Service (EMHS), called the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, (CPEP) at Binghamton General Hospital.

In June of 2021, the Buffalo Killer was taken by NY State Police from Susquehanna Valley High School in Conklin to the CPEP in Binghamton at Binghamton General Hospital ER, after having written and spoken about potential Mass-Shooting at School.

Years ago I worked at Binghamton General ER as an EMT. While I worked there, the EMHS added the CPEP component to Psychiatric Emergency Services. As a concerned private citizen and EMT, I was interested in Community Mental Health Services, and I became a member of the CPEP Advisory Board during the EMHS/CPEP development, transition, and implementation.

An area of concern to me as an ER Tech and Emergency Ambulance Squad Crew Chief, and other concerned Community Members, was that EMHS tended to Discharge those who probably should have been Admitted to In-patient Treatment, and Admit those who could have been treated on an Out-patient basis.

30 Years later, a 17-Year-old with Murder in mind is evaluated and eventually Discharged back into the community. This is the kind of thing some of us on the CPEP Advisory Board worried about. An Individual who probably should have been Admitted to In-patient Hospitalization or at least more closely supervised Out-patient Services, leaves the hospital unfettered by further restriction.

11 Months later, armed with an illegally modified semi-automatic assault rifle, he drives his parent’s car over 200 Miles from Conklin, NY to Buffalo and shoots 11 Black Americans. 10 of those shot died as a result of wounds inflicted by the berserk gunman.

This individual was quite obviously deeply disturbed and needed to be more closely supervised.

Erie County NY District Attorney John Flynn was quite cautious, and I would say, diplomatic in his description of Broome County Emergency Mental Health/Binghamton General CPEP Services – ‘I won’t comment on what went on down there in Broome County, I wasn’t there, so I won’t speak to it… I won’t criticize Broome County about that.’ He did go on to say that the shooter ‘had hatred in his heart long before coming to Buffalo’.

Well, Thank You for your candor, but, I will Critique: He should have been Admitted to In-patient.

 To not do so is an obvious and disturbing failure of Emergency Mental Health Services in Broome County, NY. As a result of this disastrous failure, 10 people were killed and 3 more wounded while shopping at a grocery store on Saturday Afternoon.

I know how this goes – a Patient Admitted to CPEP for Evaluation eventually says: ‘Oh, I don’t know why I wrote that… I didn’t really mean it … I wouldn’t do that …’ And, Viola! Discharge. In these violent and troubled, disturbing times, we cannot simply let people off the hook for recanting on such violent and disturbing threats.

An individual threatening in such a manner should be screened and investigated more thoroughly, personally, and circumstantially to truly evaluate one’s real emotional state, and to determine if circumstances such as Gun Possession indicate further action.

Outgoing President (?) Trump's Obstruction of Transition is an outright appalling disgrace. Trump once said "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" Trump remarked at a campaign stop at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. "It's, like, incredible."

Trump made this deplorable comment at, of all places a 'Christian College' in Sioux Center, Iowa. WWJD? 

As distressing as the comment is, it might actually be true. At least Trump's Co-conspirators so argued in court. " Attorneys for Trump made the claim while arguing before a federal appeals court in their suit against Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, who has subpoenaed Trump’s tax returns."

Judge Denny Chin pressed him on how the crime would be handled while Trump remained in office. “Nothing could be done, that’s your position?” he said.

Now, we see such horrid observations come true.

Nearly 480,000 Americans have Died and continue to Die at alarming rates and Trump's response is to stonewall efforts for the incoming Presidential Administration to be completely current on the latest Governmental Information on the deadly pandemic. This negligent Mass-Murder is totally appalling on its own, but even more distressing in that Nothing is being done about it.

I understand that just about everyone is exhausted with efforts to hold Trump accountable for his Crimes, but this is completely more urgent than our 'feelings'.

What if anyone else other than Trump participated in such Criminally Negligent Manslaughter? How much would we put up with? We as a Nation and a People would not just shrug it off and say 'Well, we can't do anything about it'. Whatever might be even possible to pursue in demanding accountability and responsibility must be pursued no matter how 'Tired' we may be. More and more people are dying of COVID everyday. Every possible remedy must be initiated.

The 'MAGA-lytes', including those in the U.S. Senate, claim themselves Patriots. Please. 

Hillary Clinton more accurately described them as 'Deplorable'. 

 

Barr Must Resign

Tyrant Barr Must Resign, or face impeachment.

It’s Wm. Barr’s turn for Impeachment. Congress should not balk with the excuse that a GOP-held Senate will not validate the effort – Let the House of Representatives be known historically that when the moment demanded, they stood with the U.S. Constitution despite Republican obstruction.  Let the Senate come out once again and show the Nation where they stand in Defense of Liberty.

Also looming is Barr’s DOJ ‘Review’ (whatever that involves); of the Michael Flynn Case. Another instance of Barr interjecting himself in a Justice Matter that had been already decided. Flynn plead Guilty, admitting that he in fact committed the alleged Felonies. Now, the Barr/Trump Administration decide upon ‘Review’.

Daily Kos reports further on DOJ Injustice:  “The Justice Department's internal watchdog must investigate the corrupt about-face made at the seeming behest of Donald Trump and call out cronyism within its own ranks. But given how compromised disgraced Attorney General William Barr is, we cannot trust the Justice Department to correct its course. The House Judiciary Committee, which has oversight of Barr, must also investigate independently.”

“The Justice Department undid the work of career civil servants prosecuting Trump's confidante, the convicted criminal Roger Stone, shortening the sentence they were seeking in his case.
All four of the federal attorneys responsible for pursuing justice for Stone's crimes have resigned in protest.” More accurately three Resigned from the Case; and the fourth, Jonathan Kravis, boldly resigned DOJ altogether — both from the case and as an assistant U.S. attorney.

I believe that $250 Million in U.S. Aid to Ukraine is ‘ a thing of value’, and that the threat of a Russian Invasion of Ukraine places many persons ‘in fear of injury’. And probably kidnapping as well.

Therefore; it is apparent, that Pres. Trump and his Team, held-up the Congressionally-approved and previously agreed to Aid, in order to force Ukrainian Authorities to investigate Trump’s political opponents.

There is concern about the Acting DNI consulting the Justice Dept. about the whistle-blower complaint, as the Law clearly states that the DNI’s next step should be to notify Congress before doing anything else.

House Speaker N. Pelosi needs to move beyond her desperation to maintain a Democratic majority in the House, which is entirely understandable but now secondary, and permit Impeachment Proceedings to progress.

The latest insane display of lack of stable behavior is the National Security whistle-blower ordeal unfolding at the office of National Security Council (NSC), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). An individual at the NSC, notified the NSC Inspector General (IG), that 

Pres. Trump may have committed a major and ‘urgent’ security breach. 

Now, there is the caveat that the President may Declassify information at his own discretion. However, Protocol dictates that he then notify other Intelligence and Security Officials that he has made particular agreements, or in this case ‘Promises’, to Foreign Officials on behalf of the United States. In this case, none of that was done.

The NSC Whistle-blower then notified his/her superiors and the IG of this secret discussion. The DNI is then compelled by Law, to notify House of Representatives and Senate Officials and Committees of such Disclosure. In this case, that Congressional Notification never happened.

Therefore; Pres. Trump apparently disclosed Secret U.S. Intelligence Information to a Foreign Official, and then made an Unauthorized secret promise to this official, and failed to notify anyone else in the U.S. Government (Congress), that he’d done so. Bottom?

 Following this disclosure by The Washington Post, NBC News, MSNBC and others, Trump appeared at the Southern Border Wall constructed by the Obama Administration, claimed The Wall as his, and used an Alabama Hurricane Map-altering Sharpie to Autograph The Wall. ‘Morning Joe’ Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Willie Geist and their MSNBC Colleagues, first disclosed and discussed Trump’s National Security insanity this morning, and then went on to discuss the absurdity of Trump making a big show autographing Obama Era Wall.  (Kudos to Mika for pointing out the Sharpie). All this occurs at a time when the Trump Administration, seriously handicapped by a crippling lack of Security and Intelligence leadership, is faced with an apparent Iranian Cruise-Missile Attack against Saudi Arabian Oil Production facilities. The attack reportedly wiped-out 50% of Saudi Oil Production equaling 5% of Total Worldwide Oil Production. While we in the U.S. can view this as an Arabian Gulf dispute, Saudi Arabia is, for better or worse a U.S. Ally, and any disruption to the flow of Worldwide Oil Supply has an overall effect on the price of Oil, and thus the Global Economy, of which the U.S. is a partner.

In pondering all this Insanity, one wonders, have we Hit Bottom, or is there more to come?

The U.S. Leadership seeks to treat Domestic Terrorism as a Community Mental Health Services Issue.   POTUS - ‘We need to improve and enhance Mental Health Treatment’. POTUS identified the Internet, Video Games, and Mental Illness as The Problem. ‘Mental Illness pulls the trigger, not Guns.’

41 spent shells were found at the scene of the Dayton, Ohio 30-Second Massacre, and The U.S. President says Mental Health is The Issue; not Guns.  We are Morally Leaderless.

POTUS – speaks of Racial Invasion; Infestation. Invasion = “Rapists, Murderers, Drug Dealers…” “Mexican, Liberal Judges will not protect Me”, (Us.) Pres Trump says among the Murderous Neo-Nazis of Charlottesville, there were some ‘very fine people’. Sure. ‘Very Fine’ Murderous Nazis.

So if ‘We’ face an infusion, an ‘Infestation’, an ‘Invasion’ of ‘Foreigners’, who threaten ‘Us’, then the obvious ‘Solution’, (Final), is to Exterminate, Defend, Repel, the ‘Invasion’ by any and all means. Not only Legal, Judicial, Legislative Measures, but Any means Necessary.  Such ‘Necessary Measures’ naturally, do not exclude Violence; Extermination, Elimination of the ‘Threat’.

Trump’s Plan – Anti-Terror Budget Cuts and Nice Words after Mass Murder. The Trump Administration has over time, cut funding, and terminated Domestic Anti-Terror Federal Services and Programs.  Trump’s Administration: “The administration is seeking a total of $568 million in cuts from counter-terrorism programs from 2017 levels” The report is based on a document sent from the Office of Management and Budget back to the Department of Homeland Security containing White House guidance on the proposed 2019 budget.

 In June 2017, the department stripped grant funding from several groups that implement programs countering violent extremism, redistributing the grant money away from groups that work among right-wing extremists. That move came under fire two months later after a counter protester was killed at a far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

I guess, it's all a matter of perspective.

What we learned today, (Again):  Donald J. Trump as Presidential Candidate, and while President-Elect, and perhaps while POTUS, lied, profited, obstructed and worked to undermine the 2016 Presidential Election, and obstruct the investigation to that matter.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Former FBI Director in the days of 9/11/01, ( a Geo. W. Bush Appointee), Wounded Warrior and Recipient of both the Bronze Star, and Purple Heart for his service as a USMC Combat Officer in Vietnam, Registered Republican, swore to these things under Oath before the U.S. Congress today.

Mr. Mueller gave Sworn Testimony that Trump's National Security Advisor, Mike Flynn, (himself a Bronze Star Recipient, but unfortunately a Convicted Felon), profited by his work as an undisclosed Foreign Agent and lied to FBI Agents investigating the matter.
 Also, Mr. Mueller swore, Paul Manafort,   (no Bronze Medal here, but, he too, is a Convicted Felon, and undisclosed Foreign Agent), profited from illegal Campaign-related activity and obstruction, as did his Deputy Campaign Manager Rick Gates, (no medals; admitted Felon).
Donald J. Trump promised us 'All the Best People', and that we'd all 'be tired of all the Winning'.
Are we there yet?

It's clear from today's sworn Congressional testimony that Donald J. Trump, his family and Co-conspirators, engaged in a repeated and persistent effort to obstruct, mislead and deceive Investigators, and thereby the American People, about the disloyal and criminal  conduct of this Presidential Campaign and Administration.

Simply put: More will be revealed.

I see a Troubled Man...

 Who cares really, who's peeing on whom behind closed doors?

 I care not, really, to be the arbiter of Anyone's Sexual Conduct. I'm not implying that those 'salacious' allegations against Donald Trump are valid. My point is, even if they are, Who Cares?  

I've changed my point of view of Mr. Trump. I've seen him as a manipulating, tricky sneak.  I still believe all those things may be true. However, 

I now have a different perspective: I see a troubled man. The Russians most certainly have Something on Donald J. Trump, and they are holding it over him, and he's scared. I see a Victim, a Hostage.

Mr. Trump is quite obviously a reckless and feckless individual. This, in the end, will be his undoing. 

By his poor conduct, he's made himself available for extortion. I believe that by the time of Trump's appearance in Moscow for his vaunted  Miss Universe Pageant in 2013, he was, as an American Celebrity and notorious Financier, of at least some interest to Russian Intelligence Operators. As such, he was under their attention, surveillance, and quite possibly, entrapment. 

There is endless valid evidence that at the time leading up to, at the time of, 

and after the Pageant, Trump was in overwhelming financial trouble. There is  voluminous evidence that  Russian Oligarchs, Putin's Gang, were aware of  Trump's problems and eager to provide relief. Thus came Mr. Trump, a careless and amoral player, into their grip.   

Observing Mr. Trump in the presence of his Captor, Putin, I saw a cowed and panicked man. Looking into his eyes, I saw a scared rabbit. I saw a captive, a Victim. If seen in that light, Trump's bizarre behavior makes sense. To quote Rachel Maddow -   ' the inexplicable becomes explicable'.

I believe that Trump's sexual adventures are the least of his problems with Putin. Although they may be humiliating, no one is going throw Trump in jail for his alleged Moscow escapades. Money-Laundering, Bank Fraud, Conspiracy to Defraud, are Crimes often resulting in Conviction and often Incarceration. I think these are things causing Mr. Trump sleepless nights and hysterical Twitter Rants.  I believe This is Why Trump goes on endlessly about his 'massive' and 'brilliant' Presidential 

Campaign. He needs to ceaselessly remind everyone paying attention that he Won. He defeated the Evil and Scandalous Hillary Clinton, and it is he, who is now the undisputed Champion.

Special Counsel Robt.Mueller  is now well along the way of 'following the money'. With the Indictment and Incarceration of his Campaign Manager, Paul Manifort, himself a notorious and desperate International Financier with nefarious Russian connections, the Guilty Plea of Gen. Mike Flynn, again a suspicious individual with dubious Russian connections, the seizure by Federal Prosecutors of Trump's Attorney/Fixer Micheal Cohen's Records and various Documentation, all lead to the inevitable conclusion that Donald Trump is in deep trouble with the U.S. Justice System.

Trump's bizarre contortions in avoiding any conflict with Putin will ultimately prove useless at the end of Mueller's Investigation as he moves into Prosecution of the Offenders. Truth will Out. And as Sad and Deplorable as it all is, the Truth will ultimately set Trump Free of Putin's 'Kidnapping'. It will however end in Mr. Trump having to face American Justice. How that will all play-out still remains somewhat of a Constitutional Mystery - the unresolved issue of the Indictment of a sitting U.S. President.

Donald Trump: Russian Operative -Stunning, Daring Reporting.

Today’s Indictments makes clearer the prospect that Donald J. Trump is in fact a Russian Federation Operative. DOJ Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein announced Indictments today of 12 Russian GRU Operators charged with hacking into Democratic Party Computer and e-mail systems, and further, that the purpose of the thefts of information was to sabotage the Democratic Party 2016 Presidential Campaign. The Indictments reveal that stolen information was as intended, subsequently transmitted by Russian Operators to WikiLeaks for public disclosure.

Once again, July 27, 2016 is mentioned as a precisely specific date on which Russian Intelligence Operatives worked intensively to hack into Democratic Party Systems. Not coincidentally, it is the same date on which Donald Trump made his infamous plea to Russian Operators to find former Secretary of State and Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton’s missing e-mails. ‘Russia, if you’re listening’, Trump announced for all the world to hear, ‘If you can find the missing e-mails, I’m sure you’ll be greatly rewarded … for finding the e-mails’.

In the time since most observers, myself included, found this a stunning coincidence. No Longer. Special Counsel Robert Muller’s investigation has made significant effort, in its continuous Indictments, to specify this date as significant in the Russian intrusion into the 2016 Presidential Election.

When the information from this latest round of Indictments is viewed in the context of all the information previously disclosed in Official Investigation legal filings, validated information reported by Investigative Journalists, and various publically available information, combined with Donald J. Trump’s remarkable behavior and comments regarding all and anything involving Russia and Vladimir Putin, the often inevitable conclusion is confirmed – Trump is in fact, acting in concert with the Russian Federation at the highest Office of U.S. Government.

There you go Mr. President, I have publically called you out in print, as a Russian Spy. Sue me, prove me wrong.  Take me to court and let’s have it-out; Prove me a Liar who has publically defamed and maligned you.

   

Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin’s agenda for the U.S., and Western Democracies is patently obvious – to undermine Western alliances and Western Democratic processes. Everything Pres. Trump has recently done serves the Russian Dictator’s intentions. Meeting with North Korean Dictator, the Dear Leader, Kim Jon Un, without regular established U.S. Diplomatic process, and granting concessions which weaken the U.S. Military posture on the peninsula, with little to nothing to show from the North Korean Regime. This diplomatic debacle had to please Putin.

The G-7 is a confederation of Western Economic allies. Trump publicly plead for Russian reinstatement to the group. He then publicly berated the Western Partners, traveled to the Conference in Canada, and engaged in a highly-public dispute with the Partners. Then, he obviously reluctantly agreed to a Joint Communique issued at the conclusion of the Conference. As Air Force One flew off to Singapore to grant unwarranted concessions to the North Korean Strongman Un, he rescinded his endorsement and scolded Canadian Prime Minister, and staunch U.S. ally, Justin Treadeau. Trump later unilaterally and quite possibly illegally, inexplicably imposed punitive, harsh tariffs against our steadfast ally and reliable Trading Partner, Canada, citing of all things; U.S. Security concerns. Yeah, our Northern Menace, Canada. Putin must have been delighted.

And now, off to Brussels to meet with our 70 + Year Military, (and Trade), Alliance: NATO. Putin would love nothing more in his lifetime than a weakened and fractured NATO Alliance. Ever compliant, Trump fought with the allies, engaged in now-typical public humiliation of the partners, and threatened U.S. withdrawal. Vladimir Putin could not have been happier. Delighting Putin further, Trump engaged in public humiliation of British Prime Minister Theresa May, praising her political rival Boris Johnson. All of this has saved Vladimir Putin a great deal of time and trouble.

Now, Trump is off for another free-lance, unconditional one on one meeting with a murderous dictator and U.S. foe. This time, it’s his Puppet –master, Putin.

Yea, the Lil’ Racist AG Was smiling broadly and hopping up and down excitedly as he displayed his most excellent recall of select Gospel. Hypocrite ! (That’s Biblical also). If Lil’ Good Ole Brother Jeff wants to get to Gospel quoting, perhaps he should remember Matthew 25. In this Gospel, The Apostle commends us to be mindful of Jesus Christ’s admonition for how we treat ‘the least of the brethren’.  Matthew 25 gives few clues as to who “the least of these” are. They’re described only as hungry, thirsty, homeless, naked, sick, and imprisoned.

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

I do not imply that these people are not being fed and housed, they are. However, we are making Mothers and Children sick by the trauma of forced separation. We are most certainly imprisoning them, and most certainly – they are not welcome here.

Why? Why all the Lies, Obfuscation, Denial, Misdirection? What is behind it All?   

DJT and Co. have engaged in a persistent, myriad campaign of diversion and delusion. Besides the fascinating denial of clearly verifiable events, situations, and statements, stands the Question: Why? The latest perversely entertaining parade of imaginary productions is the result of the catastrophic revelation of Trump Jr.’s disastrous decision to meet with a band of Russian troublemakers. ‘I Love It!’ he records in an e-mail to associates, when presented with an opportunity to meet with foreign agents to interfere with the U.S. Presidential Election.

I’m not a Lawyer, or Politician, or ridiculously wealthy Real Estate Developer, but even I, would think to check with Law Enforcement Officials if I were involved in a political campaign and received such a ludicrous invitation from Russian Agents.   

Aside from the profoundly stupid act in and of itself, as well as the subsequent documenting of potential criminality, comes the roaring circus of denial. From the lame-brained Collusion/Delusion word games played out on Television by an appropriately lame-brained spokesperson, to the White House Press briefing by an equally incoherent poser, to the President himself with the asinine comment; ‘Practically speaking…’,  says the President, in an attempt to what, sound intelligent? ‘I think anyone would have taken that meeting’. Yeah, anyone who’d like to be in prison. Jackass. Even Donnie Jr. expressed some regret, and stated he wished now, that he’d done differently then. Do they even talk, or listen to each other?

But behind it all lays, Why? Why is it that Pres. Trump consistently and often, refuses to acknowledge and confront this Russian Incursion into U.S. Democracy? Why is it he remains so chummy with the Russian Invader Putin? The dictator oligarch Vladimir Putin directed a complex scheme to infiltrate the sacred American Right of self- determination, and Mr. Trump wants to give him a pass.

Why would anyone do such a thing? One can’t help but wonder if the Russians possess some sort of severely salacious or perhaps even incriminating, information about the current U.S. President. I’m no fan of the G.O.P. but, I do appreciate the concept of Informed Dissent in our venerated Constitutional Republic. Any endorsement or participation to interfere with that Right, is Treasonous.

Stunned Silence. Shocked Amazement. Dumbfounded. That pretty much sums up my reaction last night.

You may have read here my piece on Monday wherein I explained Trump’s Minority, and lack of needed Electoral Votes to win. So, it appears I was Wrong. (God, I Hate That). I’m not always right, just usually. I began to have a Bad Feeling about the night when the Rangers lost, (they’d been on an absolute tear and I’ve missed it all because of my Politics Addiction).

It’s small comfort that so many of us were Um, Incorrect. Also very surprising was President-Elect Trump’s, (God, That One Hurts too.), conciliatory Victory Speech, (yeah, This is Killing Me, good thing I got a Zoloft re-fill Monday).

I Really thought he didn’t have the numbers to win. His Post-election Speech (That doesn’t hurt as much…), spoke of unity, reconciliation, cooperation and I’m thinking – who the Hell is This and where’s Donald Trump? Despite the consoling tone, we cannot ignore his Campaign Promises: Muslim Ban, Great Wall of Mexico, NATO, Putin....

The Real Trumpist’s were back at it the next day – telling the White House Press Pool that there would be No Coverage of the meeting of Trump and President Obama, and The Obama White House saying ‘we’re still In Office here, there Will indeed, be Press-Pool coverage of the meeting’. So much for cooperation and reconciliation, it lasted about a day. 3A.M Wednesday Trump says he wants to be President for ‘All of Us….’ 9 P.M Wednesday he’s trying already to ban the Press from ‘The People’s House’.

About 21 Million People are on the verge of Losing Healthcare Insurance and there is No Plan from Trump to cover those people, many of whom voted for Trump. Yeah, Go Trump! He’s Promised to ‘Rip-up’ Trade Agreements and Treaties negotiated by the Obama Administration, and approved by a bi-partisan Congress. Yay!
